That’s right Marvel Zombies, the Mondo Marvel panel at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con started off with a bang. Marvel’s new Senior V.P. Creator and Content Development C.B. Cebulski announced a little over 10 new series and limited series.
This was all followed up by Brian Michael Bendis saying he was excited that the character Killraven was coming back to the mainstream. Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s newly appointed Head of Television, talked about the upcoming plans for some Marvel anime project, the first of which is featuring Iron Man.
Well I should probably jump right into it then because what everyone is here for, just like at the panel, was the titles being announced. The first announcement was that a new Loki series starting in October 2010. Not many more details could be announced for this series.
Next up were the four new Captain America series: Captain America and The Korvac Saga with Ben McCool as part of the creative team; Captain America Hail Hydra coming out January 2011; Captain America: Fighting Avenger, a new all ages Captain America book by Brian Clevinger; and the final Captain America book announced, thank god cause there we definitely needed 5 Captain America series, is called Captain America: Man Out of Time, which will be written by Mark Waid starting in January 2011.
Next up in the announcement section was two new Ultimate series. The first book is something that I am super pumped about not only because it is my favorite character, but the creative team are two of my favorites. Ultimate Thor will be kicking off at October 2010 with script by Jonathan Hickman and art by Carlos Pacheco. I can’t wait to read this book. The second book is a continuation of the Ultimate Enemy story line called Ultimate Doom which will kick off in December 2010 with Bendis still on script and art by Rafa Sandoval and covers by Brian Hitch. This is when we will all find out who the ultimate enemy is and see the entire battle unfold.
So Cosmic fans you say you want some announcements from your favorite team, well how about a Rocket Raccoon and Groot coming out in January 2011. Not only will you be getting that series, but the cover will be done by Mike Mignola. Dan Abbott and Andy Lanning were also announced to be working on a new Iron Man and Thor with art by Scott Eaton and cover by Ron Garney.
The final book talked about in the panel is spinning out of the Shadowland series that just started and it is highly anticipated by me and any others I am sure. That’s right everyone you get to look forward to a Power Man and Iron Fist series starting in January 2011 with Fred Van Linte working on it.
So these are the announcements out of the Mondo Marvel which some had already been stated at earlier points, but the art was fun to see and a surprise for the non internet people. Whatever the case may be, dive in and enjoy it, Marvel Zombies.
