SDCC 2010: Salt panel: Angelina Jolie

Considering that worldwide mega-star Angelina Jolie‘s new action-spy movie, Salt, was raring up for release this weekend, it seemed a bit strange that they would hold a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2010.

Nevertheless, the panel was held and Jolie herself was in attendance (to the many dropping jaws of fanboys galore, no doubt) to promote her new venture. She was joined by Liev Schreiber, director Phillip Noyce, and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

The movie tells the story of a CIA agent who’s accused of being an undercover Russian spy. The accusations force her to go on the run, trying her best to avoid being captured while also attempting to prove her innocence.

Because Salt was all but out when the panel was held, not much was shared here. It was just a cameo appearance of sorts to say hi to the Comic-Con faithful, show some footage, and answer fan questions. Things started off with trailer for the movie. Surely almost everyone there had seen something from the movie already, but it’s always nice for those who are excited about a movie to see something new.

After the trailer it was all pretty much audience Q&A. Someone asks Jolie (most question were to her, as you might imagine) what drew her to the role. She explains that a lot of the action roles that she does are within the realms of fantasy, and it was the fact that this one was all about reality that attracted her.

The next question for Jolie is whether she did her own stunts and if she ever got hurt or not. She shares that she did her own stunts and tells stories of one scene where she cracked her head open and has a little scar and another where she thought she had gone deaf before realizing her earplugs were still in. This moves to Phillip Noyce with a question about how to control actors who want to do their own stunts and how often it happens. The director shares that he found that Angelina wanted to all of her own stunts and that there’s no CGI or body doubles in the movie, it’s all her.

That takes care of the Salt panel; check out some images below!
