Warner Brothers Now Developing ‘Wonder Woman’ As A TV Series
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

A movie version of Wonder Woman has been talked about for years with many names rumored to be possible stars and scripts written by people like Joss Whedon, but for one reason or another, it never found a way to work out.

Now Warner Brothers is trying something else in hopes of making some magic out of this property. The studio’s television department is now developing a modernized version of the character for the small screen. They’re also reaching out to none other than David E. Kelley as a possible writer and producer of the show if things work out this time around.

Kelley has worked as a writer and producer on some of the biggest television series ever made. His double-duty credits include Doogie Howser, M.D., L.A. Law, Picket Fences, Chicago Hope, Ally McBeal, Boston Public, The Practice, and Boston Legal. He’s also done film work, writing and producing Lake Placid, To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday, and Mystery, Alaska.

Once they get their product in order, WB will begin shopping it around to networks to see if they can make something happen. No timeline yet exists on when this most recent attempt to bring DC Comics’ Wonder Woman back to life could become a reality.

There’s no doubt that Wonder Woman could work best as a TV series; a show starring Lynda Carter was popular from the mid to late ’70s. That, and a larger-than-life superstar would not be required to sell the show as it would be for a movie adaptation. It all really rests on how they go about “modernizing” the heroine to make her appealing to a large general audience.

This news now resurrects the nagging question of who should become the new Wonder Woman, so make your cases below. Who’s the right girl?

  1. Um. My mind is kind of blown by this whole idea. Then again, I suppose they need a replacement for Smallville.

Oh heck, why not Erica Durance? Or, even better, the actress who plays Zatanna on Smallville.

No Disney or Family Channel actresses, please.

Rachel Bilson might be a hoot… but that will never happen.

  2. There is only ONE woman who should play this role and that is Nadia Bjorlin. She has the perfect look and isn’t petite.
Here is a really good pic I found that should convince everyone and stop any further debate.
