Marvel Entertainment Studios just released some high resolution images from their next two big budget films: Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.

The image of a very angry Thor, played by actor Chris Hemsworth, is now large enough for all you creative fanboy types to cut up into desktop wallpapers and such.

The two photo stills of Captain America (Chris Evans) follow suit, showing off the character’s costume in detail.

I’m still kind of peeved that there are wings painted on the side of Cap’s helmet instead of the actual tiny wings that he has in the comic books. I’ll reserve further judgment for the comment section.

J.J. Abrams has a good sense of humor despite the news that FOX has moved the Bad Robot-produced Fringe television show from Thursdays to a new Friday-night death slot.

Since the show is already rumored to be in danger of getting canceled, this kind of move could either be really good (lower expectations for ratings) or really bad depending on how many fans migrate over.

The first Fringe episode to air on its new Friday time slot is titled “Firefly” — also the name of Joss Whedon’s short-lived FOX sci-fi series that held that very same time slot.

If you’ve ever been confused about the character relationships within Marvel’s X-Men comics timeline, you may now have some much needed help.

To help promote his comic book shop, UK-based graphic designer Joe Stone has created an X-Men Family Tree to help navigate who’s related to who, who’s romantically linked to each other, and sets of prominent arch-nemesis.

I have at least a decade of dedicated X-Men comic book story reading under my belt and even I didn’t recognize all the character ties, which is why Stone probably added the text at the bottom that reads, “Confused? Read more comics.”

Can’t go wrong with advice like that.

The David Fincher-directed film The Social Network, which stars Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg, is doing great this awards season, and there’s a good chance the film will take the Best Picture Oscar this year.
