Amy Adams To Play Lois Lane Alongside Henry Cavill In Zack Snyder’s ‘Superman’
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

The cast for Dawn of the Dead, 300, Watchmen, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, and the recently released Sucker Punch director Zack Snyder‘s reboot of Superman for Warner Brothers has been coming together quite nicely.

The movie, which is said to be called The Man of Steel, first cast Tudors star Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, and has since brought in Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Martha and Jonathan Kent. Now Clark has his Lois Lane with the announcement that Academy Award nominee Amy Adams has been cast in the role.

Talking with the LA Times, Snyder said:

There was a big, giant search for Lois. For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.

It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. What’s important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].

The Man of Steel will hit in 2012.

  1. I can honestly say this is going to suck. I know this because Snyder makes dry, boring, painting by numbers movies. He had the blue print for Watchmen, dull. He had the blueprint for 300, duller. Superman is a rich story, he’ll tell it as an origin. We do not need another, dull, Superman origin. We do not need to see Lex Luthor. What we need is Braniac. We do not need Zod. We need Darkseid. God, when will these people get a grip and A) Move on, and B) Try something new.

  2. @Lusky – I absolutely, 100% agree with you!! No more origin stories. No more Lex Luthor. It’s just not entertaining anymore. Superman NEEDS a worthy adversary this time. Someone needs to make a Superman movie that proves him more than just a Big Blue Boy Scout. I’d say that the DCU Animated movies are doing a pretty good job. But let’s see more than just another reboot please?! My short list would include Brainiac as well as the Parasite, the Eradicator or Metallo. I’m on the fence about Doomsday because there’s little depth to him and I fear that he’d be treated like Bane was in Batman and Robin. Superman doesn’t need a one dimensional villain anymore than he needs another crappy reboot. No one better than Darkseid though! The cool thing about Darkseid is 1) he’s powerful 2) he’s scary looking and 3) he has a weird, twisted perception of honor. Using Darkseid as a villain also gives us the possibility of cameos by the New Gods and wouldn’t that be exciting?! Been doing my best to keep track of the casting on this one but I don’t recall if a villain has been cast yet. Do we have any big names for a VILLAIN yet?
