With production on season 2 to begin rather quickly (thankfully for we the impatient viewers already itching for more), HBO’s Game of Thrones has begun adding new faces to the characters we’ll be introduced to in their sophomore effort.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Natalie Dormer has joined the season 2 cast, and will be playing the role of Margaery Tyrell. Dormer is of course best known for her work as Anne Boleyn and the eventual queen of England on the hit Showtime original series, The Tudors.
Apart from The Tudors Dormer hasn’t done much that U.S. audiences will recognize, but the actress can be seen as Private Lorraine in the upcoming Marvel superhero blockbuster, Captain America: The First Avenger.
Fans of the books will surely be able to instantly place Dormer’s face to the Margaery character, who’s betrothed to King Robert’s brother, Renly Barantheon, while most of those who are intent on seeing the show before reading the books will have to wait and see how Miss Tyrell plays into this vicious game of thrones.
What are your thoughts on Game of Thrones adding Natalie Dormer to the cast, and who do you want to see cast in some of the other pivotal season 2 roles?
