The Mondo set of posters and prints are some of the most dynamic art pieces that are available commercially, and the newly announced line of DC Comics Mondo posters starts on Friday with this awesome Fortress of Solitude piece.
Starting at a random time on Friday, Mondo will be releasing this limited edition poster prints to the masses for a cool price tag of $50. The piece by J.C. Richard is 12×32 and showcases arguably the most iconic of DC characters, Superman. And while it does showcase Superman, the piece focuses not only on the character but also his Fortress of Solitude.
It’s seriously amazing, and I can’t wait to see more like this. In fact, Mondo is teaming up with DC Comics and Sideshow Collectibles to offer a full set of DC-inspired pieces, so obviously I’m dying to see the Batman one.
Mondo, the collectible art boutique branch of Alamo Drafthouse, has done several posters in this same vein including pieces featuring Jurassic Park, Star Trek, Star Wars and the Universal Monsters, and they’ve all been breathtaking, and if this Fortress of Solitude poster is any indication, the rest of the series will be no exception.
As I said, the posters will be limited and cost $50, but there’s no set time for the release. So, what you’ll need to do is follow @MondoNews on Twitter to see exactly when that poster will be released. Once they go on sale, they’ll sell out immediately, so keep that in mind and don’t wait to buy yours.
In addition to the Fortress of Solitude poster, Mondo will also be releasing two awesome posters from Mike Mitchell that feature characters from the hit cult show Adventure Time. And no, I’m sorry, neither of the posters have Fionna and Cake, unfortunately. But if you want to check out these posters, as well as finding more information on Mondo and a full look at the Fortress of Solitude poster, check out Mondo’s official site.
