Dark Horse Comics released a time lapsed video on Monday through io9 that shows the artistic process of creating the cover for the third issue of the upcoming Star Wars: Blood Dies – Boba Fett Is Dead #3 by artist Chris Scalf.
Time-lapsed art videos are always really cool to me, especially with digital art as it’s something that greatly interests me. And this video from Chris Scalf is no exception. In the video we see the cover grow from a digital sketch to a fully realized comic book cover through the process of digitally inking and colors all of the minute details.
We see the creation of Darth Vader, the focal point of the cover, as well as background details like a Storm Trooper and an AT-AT in what appears to be an invasion of some sort as evidenced by the beautiful destruction surrounding one of the leaders of The Empire. But really, my favorite part of the video is the digital coloring which takes the line work and brings the whole piece to life in a gorgeous cover for the upcoming series.
The video is something that any fan of comics or Star Wars will get a kick out of, so head on over to io9 to get an exclusive look at the video and then go to the official Dark Horse Comics website to see more about the series.
Star Wars: Blood Ties – Boba Fett is Dead is scheduled to be released in April 2012.
