And now it’s time to hear the truth, straight from the horse’s mouth.
Empire recently chatted with writer and iconic comedic thespian Dan Aykroyd, who revealed a few interesting details about the much talked about Ghostbusters 3.
First, while he seemed upbeat about possibly seeing Rick Moranis return for this film, he said that we may not see Bill Murray back in the saddle as Venkman, but instead find his character re-written, to be played by a different actor. Think this franchise’s Bond.
Now, he goes on to say that, for the film to happen in the first place, a script must be “perfect,” so for all intents and purposes, this story could never ultimately have any sort of weight. That said, it’s definitely worth noting. Murray has always been the proverbial thorn in this project’s side, and sure, that’s admirable, but at this point, with the crew looking to write around Murray’s hesitation, it seems a bit comedic. Hopefully this won’t ultimately happen, and we’ll either never see this film, or we’ll find our crew back together, and better than ever.

actually THIS is what was said in its entirity…lebamski
says: Hi Dan. If you were to make a reboot of the original Ghostbusters
film, rather than a sequel, which actors would you pick to take the
roles of Ray, Peter, Egon and Winston if you could have anyone you
wanted?
Well, let me see. See, we don’t ever think of
making the original over again, but if I were to have to do that,
hmm… Matthew Gray Gubler as Egon. Zach Galifianakis as Ray. Vince
Vaughn as Peter. And for Winston, maybe Chris Tucker.
