Deep into filming on the long-awaited next James Bond adventure Skyfall, the third to feature Daniel Craig in the legendary title role created by Ian Fleming back in the 1950s, director Sam Mendes has released his first video blog from the film’s production.
You can watch the 90-second video here below.
In the blog, Mendes discusses his intentions for Skyfall and how he hopes his contribution to the longest-running film franchise in history will measure up to the best of the Bond flicks. In between soundbites are shots of Mendes on the set working with his cast and crew. Interesting to note is that Skyfall marks the first time Mendes has made a feature film in his native England. He did begin his career there directing theater productions like the musical Cabaret and plays by William Shakespeare and Tennessee Williams. But Mendes has become a quintessentially American film director since making his celluloid debut with 1999’s American Beauty, for which he won his first (and so far only) Best Director Oscar.
