1988’s Twins is one of many guilty pleasures born of the ’80s that plenty of people have seen and enjoyed for what it is. It’s not a movie, however, that anyone ever expected to see a sequel for.
But we should all be familiar with the times we currently live in, and now, over two decades later, a sequel to Twins might just be heading our way.
And what’s even more unexpected? It appears as though the hopes for said sequel is to have Eddie Murphy play the third brother to the original’s oddball twins, returning stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.
According to THR, Universal Pictures and Montecito Picture Company are hoping to develop the project, which would be titled…you guessed it: Triplets.
At the moment this is far from officially happening, though the actors are attached to it for now. Writers are currently being sought out to help develop it before a potential directors are looked at. Ivan Reitman, who directed the original, would only act as a producer on the sequel.
Would you be interested in seeing a sequel to Twins, or is this as absurd as it sounds?

This is even more absurd than it sounds on the surface.

Oh, my gods! It sounds like a fun movie to me. I’ll see that!

Actually, I’ll see anything with Danny DeVito in it. Danny plus Arnold AND Eddie? I’ll definitely see it.

Even with the original plot in mind, how could the third one be black? Hollywood needs to stop being fucking stupid. Cast him by all means, but not as related.

Why not? It’s better than a remake. At least it’s a semi-original idea that’s not peeing all over an established story.
