Gee Leonardo DiCaprio, what are you going to use that hammer for? Just in case you are wondering that’s Dicaprio here above as Calvin Candie, owner of the Candie Land slave plantation that will be seen in Quentin Tarantino‘s new film Django Unchained (full image here below). So I think that hammer will be used for more nefarious things rather than what its actually intended for. Following the release of the magnificent first poster for Django Unchained, we got our first looks at DiCaprio as Candie, and Christoph Waltz and Jamie Foxx as the German dentist turned bounty hunter and freed slave (second image here below).

| Watch The First Trailer For John Hillcoat’s Prohibition-Era Crime Drama ‘Lawless’
One of my most anticipated films to be released this year is Lawless, the latest feature from Australian filmmaker John Hillcoat — the director of the blisteringly brilliant 2005 western The Proposition and the 2009 screen adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Road — that is based on the acclaimed historical novel The Wettest County in the World by Matt Bondurant. Now, the first trailer for the film has made its debut online. You can watch the trailer here below.

San Diego Comic-Con and WonderCon may be the greatest gathering of heroes, villains, and all other pop culture-related shows, but it’s the Hero Complex that’s the one true geek-related film festival. Since its inception in 2009, the LA Times’ Hero Complex Film Festival – lead by LA Times writer Geoff Boucher – has screened films like Batman Begins, Star Trek, the first two Iron Man films, and Dick Tracy. Now, the list of films that will be screened during the festival has been released and it’s quite a compilation of geek favorites.

| Check Out This New ‘Prometheus’ Featurette
“The adventures begins,” says David, the android (they prefer the term “˜artificial person’) portrayed by Michael Fassbender in Ridley Scott‘s new film Prometheus. David is commenting on the Prometheus crew’s first steps on an alien world – a world that could hold the secret to humanity’s origins. In this new 1:39 featurette, which you can watch here below, director Ridley Scott talks about his return to science-fiction with Prometheus, a film 30 years in the making. “It’s all about everything,” says Scott at Pinewood Studios, an unfinished interior set of the Space Jockey room behind him.

| Doom Digest: BGS, True Skin, Walking Dead, Archie, Star Trek
Every day here at Doom HQ we receive tons of tips from our readers about really cool stuff from the world of geek, as well as promotional materials for new films, comic books, collectibles, and much more. While we do our best to bring you as much of it as possible, we don’t always have enough geek manpower available to cover it all on a daily basis. But we hate the idea of all of this really cool stuff wasting away in our inbox. How could we NOT cover it? Hence why we’ve resurrected our long-defunct column Bits Of Doom, now rebranded and revamped as Doom Digest, a collection of easily digestible bits of news, videos, photos, and other goodies. Today: Battlestar Galactica coasters, True Skin teaser, Archie of Archie fame and Valerie from Josie and the Pussycats are having a baby, The Walking Dead Season 2 Zombie case, Stanley Chow’s Star Trek art, plus Bits Of Doom.
