Avid movie poster collectors would appreciate this piece of news. Alamo Drafthouse will be hosting a release of The Thing as a part of their celebration for “Summer of 82” and to commemorate the release, Mondo will be reprinting the iconic poster that Drew Struzan did himself. Struzan was one of the actual artists who drew the poster for the John Carpenter classic, but the reprint will feature no taglines, to title, cast, or crew, just the striking image of a man with light emanating from his face.
Check out the poster below.
Now for the scale of the poster. The reprint for The Thing will be bigger than a usual poster, but smaller than a theatrical one sheet: 26″³ x 38″³. There will also be two kinds of posters. There will be 440 original posters, which you can see below, that will be sold at $250. The glow in the dark variant will be part of an edition of 150, and that will be sold for $350. Pricey just for a poster, but considering they come from Mondo, it will be well worth the price. Of course since a piece like this is limited, you can be sure that it will go up on ebay and auctioned off at a very high price.
I suggest you follow @mondonews on Twitter, for any further updates about the sale of this poster.
