Just recently we found out that the cast of Joss Whedon‘s cult classic series, Firefly, would be reuniting at San Diego Comic-Con in celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the show. It will be the first time the show has ever had a panel at Comic-Con, though if it had the popularity it has now back when it first arrived, surely this would be one of many memorable panels. Ah, yes…life may be too damn short for ifs and maybes, but they fit perfectly into dreams.
But alas, some good news is to be had! It’s being reported that a brand spankin’ new Firefly TV special titled Browncoats Unite is set to air November 11th on Science Channel.
It’s not new episodes, sadly, but it is a documentary looking at the Comic-Con reunion, as well as a special behind-the-scenes roundtable interview with the cast where they’ll answer many questions they’ve probably answered for fans before.
Though the show hasn’t found the new life fans have been begging for for the past decade, it has regained a bit of its pulse on Science Channel, who has been airing episodes from the one and only season in syndication.
Debbie Myers, Science Channel general manager and executive vice president, had this to say about the announcement:
“Firefly is a landmark work of science fiction and a favorite with our viewers.
Ever since it premiered on Science, fans have asked us to do something special to mark its 10-year anniversary. With this signature celebration, punctuated by Browncoats Unite, we will connect the minds behind this classic franchise with its legions of passionate fans.”
Taking part in the Comic-Con panel will be Whedon, Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Summer Glau, Adam Baldwin, Sean Maher, showrunner Tim Minear, and writer Jose Molina.
