Double Jumpers #3 is the penultimate chapter of this series, and I really can’t wait to see how this series ends. Not that I want it to end, it’s just so good that I want to see how all the storylines are resolved. Like the previous two issues, this one is very entertaining, funny, and an all-around good read.

Writer Dave Dwonch turns in another very entertaining issue here, it’s on the level with the last two very funny issues. As much as the “fish out of water/body switching” story formula has been used, this series makes it as fresh as if it were the first time you were reading a story using that plot device. As the gang from our universe travels on to fulfill their quest to finish the game and get back home, the four game characters continue to reek havoc in Las Vegas. There’s a lot of twists and turns in this issue, and it really throws the audience for a loop. I can’t even imagine how this series is going to end, but I’m really looking forward to finding out.

Bill Blankenship is a great artist. I’m really hoping that we’ll be seeing more of him in the future. He’s got a great cartoony style that lends itself to comic books, and I can see him going forward with other books along the same vein as Double Jumpers. Hopefully, if there’s not a Double Jumpers sequel in the works, he can find some work elsewhere. Half of this issue takes place in Las Vegas, and half takes place in the video game universe that’s basically a Lord of the Rings/Dungeons and Dragons universe. While he does great with the scenes that are set in Vegas, he is really allowed to do whatever he wants to in the video game universe, and those pages are where his talent really shines. Hopefully this isn’t Blankenship’s last foray into comics.

I really loved this issue, but I have to warn any potential readers out there, this is NOT a book to hand off to your kid brother or any other younger reader when you’ve finished the issue. It says “Mature Readers” on the cover and it MEANS it! Other than that, it’s a boat-load of fun, and I guarantee you’re going to enjoy it.
