Horror remakes may be a dime a dozen, but when you get some invested interest from Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, the people behind the original film, then you have the potential to create something truly special. Looking at the new NSFW red band trailer for Evil Dead, we might be getting something that is not only unique, but it deserves to share the name of its film predecessor.
Check out the newest red band trailer for Evil Dead here below.
If anything, this trailer hints at the fact that it will make the original look like My Little Pony. How that is possible is based on how well this trailer was edited. There’s blood, guts, creepy makeup, chilling threats of death, stern warnings of impending doom, and what looks like the bloodiest tongue kiss ever, not to mention the few nods to the original. There is just so much in this trailer that I am worried there won’t be anything left in the final cut.
There is a lot to be said about how horror movies just strive to be bloody. But it looks like that Evil Dead is trying to stray away from that notion and add the suspense factor while still being extremely graphic and gory. Sounds like fun, right? The trailer debuted on the Dare to Share Your Scare website – which basically takes you to the film’s official youtube page. There you can watch and record your reaction to the video, which you can then share with your friends.
The film follows five friends who stay in a cabin in the woods and one of them opens a book and unwittingly unleashes an evil force that none of them can understand. Evil Dead stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci, and Elizabeth Blackmore. Sony will release Evil Dead on April 12, 2013.
