Now that director Christopher Nolan has wrapped things up with his Dark Knight trilogy, he’s moving on to new projects. And according to sources, he’s found one.
It’s being reported that Nolan has chosen a sci-fi project titled Insterstellar for his next film, which he would both direct and produce. The move also makes plenty of sense, as the screenplay is penned by his brother, Jonathan Nolan, whom he has worked with multiple times before.
While we’re just hearing about this (now that all the dirty details are likely worked out and a signed deal is close) it isn’t a new development for Nolan, who has been in what’s described as “very complex” negotiations for months now.
And don’t let those brains of yours get too rusty thinking Nolan might be taking on a simpler movie compared to his other movies, such as Inception, The Prestige, and Memento. Interstellar is based on scientific theories developed by Kip Thorne, who is a theoretical physicist, gravitational physicist, and astrophysicist at Caltech. It tells a story following a group of explorers who time travel and visit alternate dimensions via a wormhole.
Unlike most of Nolan’s other movies, which were released by Warner Brothers under the director’s own Syncopy Films, this movie will be a joint venture between WB and Paramount Pictures.
It’s also worth noting that Nolan is not the first director to be attached to Interstellar. A one Mr. Steven Spielberg was set to direct it at one point, but had to depart. It’s unknown if he’ll still be involved as a producer.
No word yet on a timeline for when we’ll get to lay our eyes on the movie.
Knowing very little about the movie, are you excited for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar?
