Last month we found out that Frank Darabont, the creator (and eventually fired showrunner) of AMC’s The Walking Dead and director of The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, would be rewriting the script for Legendary Pictures’ reboot of Godzilla.
Darabont is still working on said rewrite, but the studio is now starting to put its cast together. According to sources, Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston and Martha Marcy May Marlene star Elizabeth Olsen have entered into negotiations to join the cast. Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is also in talks for a role.
Though the studio has begun talks with actors, they’ve also made it clear that no official deals will be signed until Darabont finishes his rewrite of the script.
Details on who the actors would be playing are not being shared at the moment.
The Godzilla reboot is being directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters), and is currently scheduled for release on May 16, 2014. Production is set to begin next month.
