The Steam Engines of Oz is just one of the many titles being offered during this year’s Free Comic Book Day event. Now, we KNOW the price is right, but is it worth your TIME to pick this book up and read it?
Writers Sean Patrick O’Reilly and Erik Hendrix take us to the land of Oz. From the looks of things, it’s quite a while after Dorothy and company made their famous journey to meet the Wizard of Oz. But, everything seems to be running along in the Emerald City. Even the Tin Woodsman is in charge! Our story focuses on a girl named Victoria and her adventure there.
It’s a charming story, and this first chapter is an extended preview of an upcoming a graphic novel. This FCBD issue will also give a look at more Arcana’s SteamPunk Originals.
Yannis Roumboulias does a nice job as artist on this book. He makes everything look fantastic! Everything is drawn as weird and fantastic as it should be. Everything looks a bit familiar, yet Roumboulias really makes everything he draws his own. It’s a really great looking book, and he’s a very talented artist.
You should give this book a try. It’s a nice all-ages, but not dumbed down story set in the Land of Oz that anyone will enjoy.
