Frank Miller Meeting With Zack Snyder To Discuss ‘Batman Vs. Superman’

The Dark Knight Returns Header

Batman and Superman have always been on two different sides of the same coin. One is a boy scout, while the other plays by his own set of rules. Frank Miller‘s comic The Dark Knight Returns takes that idea to a whole new level and pits the two heroes against each other.

Now with the announcement that there would be a film tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman on the way for a 2015 release, many are wondering if the acclaimed comic would serve as the inspiration for the plot of the film itself.

But all of that remains to be seen. Without trying to get ahead of ourselves, Miller will be meeting with Batman vs. Superman director Zack Snyder to talk about the project.

The Independent (via ScreenCrush) reports that the comic book writer and the director are scheduled to have a meeting within the next few days. No details were given as to why the two are meeting, but the rumor is that Snyder wants to discuss how he could fit the two heroes together in one movie.

Considering the Batman vs. Superman announcement was made just a couple weeks ago, the meeting of the minds makes perfect sense. Not only is Miller behind the comic that could be the inspiration for the film, but this isn’t the first time that the two have collaborated for a project before. Snyder directed Miller’s 300, based on Battle of Thermopylae starring Gerard Butler, in 2005.

However, it seems like Miller was the last person to know about the movie itself. Apparently, he was as surprised by the news as anyone else was.

So what could this mean for the Batman vs. Superman movie itself? Could this mean that Miller will be a producer or executive producer? We still don’t even known who will be Batman/Bruce Wayne. But something will come out of that meeting, and when it does, we’ll be sure to update you on the exciting news.

  1. Miller is the last person Snyder should be seeking creative input from.

  2. Dark knight Returns is a Batman love note, and should not be used as inspiration for a proper Superman/Batman cross up. They are best friends in most stories and I would rather see that in a movie.
