SDCC 2012: Django Unchained panel: Christoph Waltz

It’s being reported that Christoph Waltz, the two-time Academy Award-winning star of Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, is in talks to play the villain in Tarzan, Warner Brothers’ new live-action feature based on the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs tale.

Waltz would play Captain Rom, a Belgian soldier who’s out to capture Tarzan in exchange for diamonds.

True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard on the project is already set to star in the movie as the man who was raised by apes in the jungles of Africa after his parents were marooned there and later died. The search is still underway to cast the role of Jane in the movie, with names like Emma Stone and Margot Robbie being looked at.

Director of the final four Harry Potter movies, David Yates, is behind the camera for Tarzan.
