Every once in a great while I stumble upon a book or comic that truly amazes me. Whether it is the artwork or the storyline, sometimes I am simply flabbergasted. Strange Attractors has made it onto this short list. I read it the same afternoon that it arrived but found myself reading it again the next day. I’ve already loaned it out to a friend, something I seldom do, because the graphic novel is just that good and needs to be shared with the world.

Combining science fiction and mathematics, the story revolves around complexity theory as it applies to the metropolis of New York City. Basically, this means that every small action creates a chain reaction that affects the greater whole. The main character, Heller Wilson, is a young man working towards his postgraduate degree on this very concept. He seeks out a former professor from Columbia University, a Doctor Spencer Brownfield, who was a known expert on the subject before leaving his teaching position under mysterious circumstances.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Back in June, we reported that the fifth Terminator film was confirmed to be a reboot and standalone from the first four films, which contradicted Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s previous statements. Annapurna Pictures purchased the rights to the film, and Paramount will help with the distribution. At the time, screenwriters Laeta Kalorgridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) were the only ones attached to the project. But now the film has found its director.

Variety has confirmed that Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones and Thor: The Dark World) will direct the untitled Terminator film. Hit the jump for more details.

Kill City BluesKill City Blues
A Sandman Slim Novel (Book 5)
Hardcover | Kindle Edition
Written by Richard Kadrey
Harper Voyager
Release Date: July 30, 2013
Cover Price: $24.99

The adventures of everyone’s favorite monster-slaying and generally misanthropic badass Sandman Slim continue in the fifth installment of the series from Richard Kadrey entitled Kill City Blues. As we saw in Devil Said Bang, Stark is fresh off a stint of giving up his title as Lucifer. He’s in a donut shop with Samael, who we normally think of as the most famous Lucifer. Their conversation, which includes discussion of donuts, is hilarious. The person currently wearing the Lucifer hat is doing a much better job than Stark. Unlike Stark, his replacement is considerably more level-headed and more invested in the well-being of Hell and Hellions. But apparently Stark left such an impression that he inspired a Wikipedia entry.

Violence and explosions follow Stark around wherever he goes, so it’s no surprise when he runs into some trouble and a shoot-out of sorts happens. As we saw in the previous volume, Devil Said Bang, God is not so easy to pin down. Not all the pieces of the God puzzle are intact, and in order to neutralize the war between Heaven and Hell, Stark is after a particular god-killing weapon and he’s doing his damndest to make sure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and friends stroll through the Hundred Acre Wood to a high-definition world, as The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh debuts on Blu-ray for nostalgic viewers and eager young ones, too.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh features a compilation of three featurettes strewn together by live-action scenes set in a live-action version of Christopher Robin’s bedroom.

Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, first released in 1966, follows Pooh’s never-ending quest for his favorite food that he seeks to put down into his “tumbly.” The search for something sweet leads him down a most dangerous path up a honey tree. The infectious, quaint humor found in Pooh’s obsession with the sticky substance still resonates all these decades later. Funny is funny, and though Honey Tree need not rely on over-the-top gags or sharp pop culture references, it is as delightful as anything ever created in a Disney animated film.

BBC Teen Exorcists

Apparently, this exists: Teen Exorcists, a BBC reality TV series about three American teenage girls who are… you guessed it … Exorcists.

Watch a clip here below from the show, where the wholesome young girls explain that the spells in the Harry Potter universe are actually real and dangerous, and that although Harry uses his magic for good, ALL magic is bad because, well, it comes from Satan.

Magic ÏŸ Satan.

I think I just found my favorite new TV show.
