Every year, Geeks of Doom adopts a bat for Halloween and this year, we sponsored Boo2, an Egyptian fruit bat who was born at Bat World Sanctuary after his mother and older siblings were rescued from horrible conditions at a zoo. Boo2’s mom was pregnant with him when she was rescued and he was born a few months later. The photos above are of Boo2 enjoying a Halloween treat – some pumpkin! In honor of Halloween, consider Adopting A Bat from Bat World Sanctuary. There are several available for sponsorship, each with their own personalities and individual stories of triumph over adversity!

I remember looking through a friend’s DVDs one time and without prompting, he began defending his collection. The shelves filled with dollar bin titles that few beyond the cast, their families, or genre die hards had even heard of. He stopped short of apologizing for the quality of his collection saying he was always on the lookout for a “diamond in the rough,” a movie he could discover on his own beyond the chatter of consensus to proudly wear as a badge of honor when he struck gold. This of course means that for every discovery there were countless other piles of nameless titles that are never again going to be watched. The Secret of Crickley Hall belongs in his collection. In present day London, an overly tired mother Eve Caleigh (Suranne Jones) reluctantly stops at a playground on the way home from daycare with her son Cam, with whom she has a special relationship (they can communicate without speaking to one another). After closing her eyes for a moment while he plays she wakes up to an empty playground. The frantic search by parents and police are equally unyielding. Cam is nowhere to be found and she can no longer hear him. Nearly a year later, thinking the change in scenery will be good for his wife and daughters Loren (Maisie Williams) and Cally (Pixie Davies), and to distract Eve from the upcoming anniversary of Cam’s disappearance, Gabe (Tom Ellis) suggests the family relocates to northern England for a few months where he has landed a temporary job contract. So they set off, having rented out the overly large Crickley Hall as their home while they are away from London.

| Video: ‘Assassin’s Creed 4’ Current-Gen and Next-Gen Comparison
Recently we saw a side-by-side comparison of Battlefield 4 running on the next generation of video game consoles, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. But you may also be interested in seeing a comparison between the current generation and the next generation consoles as well. Now, obviously when progressing to a new console, developers of the bigger franchises are going to have to start slow and make games that will work with the current systems as people slowly make the switch, but still…it’s interesting to see what differences exist right from the start. In this video from Rev3, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is looked at running on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 4. Continue below to see the differences.

Recently, geek couple Danielle and Idan commissioned a geek-tacular piece of art from artist Aviv Or. The art is a take on The Beatles’ famous Abbey Road album cover and includes popular characters like Darth Vader, Buffy, and Sherlock, as well as familiar vehicles, props, and other pop culture references. Click on the image here above for a larger view and see if you can spot all the cool references; here below is a photo of the piece hanging on Danielle and Idan’s living room wall. With Leonardo still under Shredder’s control, the leader of the Foot Clan has nearly consolidated his power in NYC’s underground in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #27. The remaining three Turtles scour the city looking for their lost brother, while mustering their forces (and technology) to confront the dreaded leader of the Foot! Thankfully, this title consistently feels like it was written in the glory days when the original creators were at the helm. Undoubtedly, it helps that co-creator Kevin Eastman is at the helm of the story. Even Mateus Santolouco‘s art is reminiscent of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle titles of days past…only with cleaner lines and more vibrant layouts.
