| New To You: Light Decorations Synched Up To ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ Song “This Is Halloween”
It’s fairly popular for some people to decorate their house for Christmas, and then synchronize the lights to blink along with music, creating a really cool effect. What’s not seen as often is doing the same thing, only for Halloween…though it has been done before. And, after seeing this video, I’m thinking it needs to be done a lot more. The video, if you haven’t seen it, comes from a couple of years ago and shows a house with Halloween lights and decorations synched up with the song “This Is Halloween” from The Nightmare Before Christmas. There’s also a version using the Marilyn Manson version of the song. You can check out both videos below.

Dark Horse Comics
Release Date: October 30, 2013

Readers like Edgar Allan Poe’s work for the way it makes them feel; for how it sucks them into his worlds and sneakily crawls under their skin. Poe’s tales and poetry — including both The Raven and The Mask of the Red Death — settle slowly and move along naturally, allowing mystery, wonder and thrill to develop in one’s mind before the real horror appears. Dark Horse’s site describes Richard Corben‘s adaptation for Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven and The Red Death as “terrifying.” The only issue is, they aren’t scary. Corben utilizes his recurring character of “Mag the Hag” as a traveler who ends up looping through or walking in on the stories. Before I researched who Mag was, my only introduction to her was on the cover page (very nicely drawn by Corben) and on page one of the comic, where she interrupts the narrator’s musings in The Raven with the cheeky line: “The weather has put young Arnold in a melancholy mood, leading him to grimly narrate his own evening in verse.” Now, in casual conversation, this might be a humorous detail to note about The Raven, but in terms of the story, it disrupts any possibility of the reader getting involved or spooked at all.

| ‘Kick-Ass’ Star Aaron Taylor-Johnson Confirmed As Quicksilver In ‘The Avengers: Age Of Ultron’
We heard back in June that Aaron Taylor-Johnson, star of Kick-Ass, Kick-Ass 2, and the upcoming Godzilla reboot, was wanted by Marvel for the role of Quicksilver in Joss Whedon‘s follow-up to The Avengers, titled The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and now that casting has been confirmed. Taylor-Johnson’s schedule promoting Godzilla overlapped with filming on the Age of Ultron, which is why the casting had not yet been made official. Those scheduling conflicts have now been worked out, allowing the actor to take on the role.

After weeks of debating whether or not to move this film to a 2014 release, Martin Scorsese‘s The Wolf Of Wall Street is being rescheduled for a Christmas release, which still puts it in contention for some Oscars. Yes Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit was bumped for a first quarter 2014 release, but honestly, The Wolf Of Wall Street is the film everyone has their eyes on. Leonardo DiCaprio reunites with Scorsese once again for this factual story based on the life of Jordan Belfort, an ambitious young stock broker who at the tender age of 22 launched his very own multi-million dollar stock broking company using very questionable and illegal methods. Jonah Hill joins the cast as Donnie Azoff, an eager assistant who immediately quits his job to work alongside Belfort. But these are only two actors of a very large ensemble cast that looks like it will be one a lot of people’s top ten spot. Hit the jump to see the trailer.

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children
Hardcover | Paperback | Kindle Edition
Written by Ransom Riggs
Quirk Books
Cover Price: $17.99
While I’ve never made a bag of bones about my fondness for the work of Stephen King, it’s understandable that not everyone shares my appreciation for his books. With Halloween around the corner, bibliophiles looking for something to get them into the spirit of the supernatural season might enjoy the book Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children. Written by Ransom Riggs, Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children was published in 2011 by the aptly-named Quirk Books, and fits in perfectly with the publishing company’s growing library of oddball titles, among them Wedding Dogs, Lovecraft Middle School, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Night of the Living Trekkies, and William Shakespeare’s Star Wars. Without giving away too much, Miss Peregrine’s tells the story of a young boy named Jacob who loves the tales told to him by his grandfather, Abe, a WWII veteran and Jewish refugee.
