Marvel Studios’ One-Shot film, Agent Carter, proved that the titular character had a fan base, so as soon as they got the ball rolling on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., production began on an Agent Carter series.
With Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. already airing and a Defenders series in the works for Netflix, Marvel Studios is turning their attention to Agent Carter and has brought on Reaper creators Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas to be the writers and executive producers for the television series.
Based on the Marvel One-Shot of the same name, Agent Carter the television series would follow the title character’s career as a spy agent after the events of the film Captain America: The First Soldier.
Deadline was the first to report Butters and Fazekas boarding the project, which would air on ABC. According to the site, they will also act as showrunners for ABC’s other show, Resurrection. Collider adds that Hayley Atwell, who played Peggy Carter in both the first Captain America and Agent Carter One-Shot, will reprise her role as the titular character.
