Need For Speed Starring Aaron Paul And Kid Cudi

An exclusive look at the upcoming film Need for Speed, which stars Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, will air on Sunday, February 2, 2014, during Super Bowl XLVIII, according to DreamWorks Pictures, who has also released a video promo for the Super Bowl ad. You can watch that video, which includes clips from the film presented by stars Aaron Paul and Scott Mescudi, here below.

Once the spot airs on FOX television on Sunday night, an extended version will be released online.

DreamWorks Pictures also released a new image today from the film of Aaron Paul, which you can see here below.

Directed by Scott Waugh, Need For Speed, based on the Electronic Arts video game series of the same name, hits U.S. theaters on March 14, 2014.

The film centers around Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul), a blue-collar mechanic who races muscle cars on the side in an unsanctioned street-racing circuit. Struggling to keep his family-owned garage afloat, he reluctantly partners with the wealthy and arrogant ex-NASCAR driver Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). But just as a major sale to car broker Julia Maddon (Imogen Poots) looks like it will save Tobey’s shop, a disastrous race allows Dino to frame Tobey for a crime he didn’t commit, and sending Tobey to prison while Dino expands his business out West.

Two years later, Tobey is released and set on revenge “” but he knows his only chance to take down his rival Dino is to defeat him in the high-stakes race known as De Leon. However to get there in time, Tobey will have to run a high-octane, action-packed gauntlet that includes dodging pursuing cops coast-to-coast as well as contending with a dangerous bounty Dino has put out on his car. With the help of his loyal crew and the surprisingly resourceful Julia, Tobey defies odds at every turn and proves that even in the flashy world of exotic supercars, the underdog can still finish first.

Head’s up: A Need For Speed sweepstakes will be launched on the film’s official Twitter account on Sunday night where users will have to correctly answer trivia questions about the Super Bowl spot for a chance to win prizes. Read more about the sweepstakes over at the official Need For Speed website.

  1. I like Aaron Paul and everything – especially considering how awesome Breaking Bad was – but this movie looks like absolute commercial trash. There’s nothing here that hasn’t already been retread over and over and over and over again in countless terrible car racing movies, and Need for Speed looks to add on to that growing shitpile.
