Guardians of the Galaxy character line-up

Hasbro revealed their tie-in toys for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy at the 2014 Toy Fair in NYC over the weekend, but LEGO is also getting in on the action with a movie tie-in play set, which you can see here below. This June, the company will be releasing the 665-piece Milano Spaceship Rescue set, which includes Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Ronan, and a Sakaaran Soldier in LEGO form.

Also, the upcoming film was featured recently in USA Today, which debuted three new images from Guardians of the Galaxy, including one of The Milano spaceship flying over the planet Xandar, the homeland of the Nova Corps intergalactic military/police force.

Check out the new images here below.

USA Today had a description of how the superhero team — Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket Racoon, Groot, and Drax the Destroyer — get together in the film:

The movie teams five disparate personalities: Peter Quill (Pratt), aka Star-Lord, was taken from Earth as a 9-year-old, possesses a mysterious orb artifact and pilots the Milano, a muscle car of a spaceship. Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is connected to Thanos, arguably the cosmos’ biggest baddie. Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) is a muscular dude you don’t want to upset. And then there are the aliens Rocket Raccoon and Groot (computer-generated characters voiced by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, respectively), who are best pals and potentially the biggest things to happen to pop culture since Chewbacca.

Their stories converge in the space prison Kyln. After the characters break out, they venture to Knowhere (the severed head of a celestial being that serves as a hangout for aliens) and visit the weird menagerie of the Collector (Benicio Del Toro). They also have to avoid two villains, Ronan (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), who are in hot pursuit of Quill’s orb, which has the power to destroy the galaxy.

Tonight will see the premiere of the teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, but in the meantime, Marvel has released a 15-second sneak peek video which you can watch now. Check back at Geeks Of Doom for the full trailer once it’s released online.

Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy, stars Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Racoon, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, and Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, along with Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillan, and Lee Pace. The film comes to theaters on August 1, 2014.
