The Disney theme parks and destinations are home to memorable characters and attractions, but would you guess epic pranks? Perhaps not. The Disney parks welcome guests of all ages – and all types of humor.
Prank videos populate nearly every inch of YouTube, and the site even plays host to some Disney park-themed ones. Here are five of my favorite Disney prank videos at Disney destinations.
Park Pranks: Maps
YouTube user PatrickzFilms, a popular presence on the site for showcasing funny “interviews” with the Disney characters, chooses to quiz the theme park cast members on the locations of attractions at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Some do not appear on the map. Well, that’s because he shows them a map featuring Disneyland attractions – not ones found in Florida. The confused individuals cannot initially connect the dots. This sets up much amusement when they discover the dissimilarities. Patrick even asks them about recently removed attractions, or complete lands, in the case of Mickey’s Toontown Fair, which closed shop in favor of the Storybook Circus portion of New Fantasyland. You have to embrace the hilarity of the Disney park confusion.
Disney Prank: Capt. Hook topiary surprises guests at Epcot during Flower and Garden Festival
Here we see the Disney Parks themselves as the prank perpetrators – or rather, Epcot, more specifically. The annual Flower and Garden Festival showcases numerous varieties of plants and well-crafted Disney topiaries. However, would you expect one to move? Call over Captain Hook in his most flowery form. Cap may not walk the plank, yet he most certainly moves next to unsuspecting guests who only seek a picture with the seemingly motionless topiary. Attractions Magazine captures these often-funny moments. Poor Tigger and Rabbit, seen in the background, must only watch from afar and hope Disney does the same motion-inspired treatment for them this year. Then again, the big cat and rodent don’t prove as scary as Hook.
PARANOID PRANK (Disneyland Edition)
Jack Vale should have the title of “distinguished prankster” assigned to him. The YouTube celebrity, much like other prominent and cunning improve artists, possesses the ability of easily responding to how others act in a most humorous manner. Jack adds a certain level of paranoia when “talking” on a cell phone next to others, reacting to their movements, characteristics and personalities. Here he enters Disneyland and raises the bar. Not a safety bar, mind you, but rather the level of silliness. It’s almost impossible to select a favorite funny encounter among the eclectic bunch of interactions, but I love the exchange between Jack and the guy sporting a Donald hat.
Ghostface goes to Disneyland – prank
Somehow this evil guy from the Scream films scares his way into the Disney parks. Usually there are restrictions on what individuals can wear as they enter Disney destinations – even on Halloween – but Ghostface takes a day off and travels to The Happiest Place on Earth. Well, in Europe at least. You see, Ghostface goes international by checking out Disneyland Paris. I’m sure some of the guests think he is a Disney character, but that proves far from the truth. YouTube user FettRaclette steals the (magical) show by entirely contrasting with the peaceful people of it’s a small world and running around Tomorrowland.
PUBLIC EMBARRASSMENT – Downtown Disney
With a YouTube name like PrankvsPrank, you instantly know the theme of the videos. These guys definitely redefine what humiliation means. They don’t spend time in a Disney park here, but rather around the shopping and dining establishments of Downtown Disney. Poor Jeana, who is subjected to acting foolish. She sure loves her Legos, as evidenced in the phrases the guys encourage her to say. “I love all their shapes,” she shouts. Jaena proves to be such a good sport by blocking individuals’ pictures and performing squats in the middle of the sidewalk. Then she adds a loud grunt as she finishes up. Nice teamwork everyone!
What was your favorite video? What type of funny prank do you think you could pull off at a Disney park? Share your ideas!
