When it was revealed that Batman: Arkham Origins, a prequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, was on the way, and that it was being made by WB Games Montreal instead of Rocksteady Games, fans of the series wondered if Rocksteady was still working on a sequel or something else.
Now we have an answer to this question. The next game in the series is indeed being developed by Rocksteady, and it is titled Batman: Arkham Knight.
Continue below for more info and to watch the announcement cinematic trailer, as a well as a video of Rocksteady talking about the new game.
The game is a sequel to Arkham City, and will be set in a much bigger section of Gotham City. This is not only to make the game larger, but to accommodate one of the exciting new features: a drivable Batmobile. The hope is to offer a seamless transition from the popular gliding and grappling gameplay of previous games into the new driving gameplay and vice versa.
Villains that can be expected in the new game include Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, and more.
Rocksteady is doing the Christopher Nolan thing with Arkham Knight, making this third game their last hurrah in the Batman world.
No official release date for the game has been announced yet, but it will be sometime this year, very likely in October or November. It will be released on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
