Another one of the many works of Stephen King is getting a movie adaptation. The author’s 1992 book Gerald’s Game is set to be adapted by Mike Flanagan, who also wrote the screenplay with Jeff Howard.
Flanagan helmed the horror flick Oculus, which brought in $28.5 million worldwide on a modest $5 million budget. His other credits include Absentia and the upcoming Somnia, which is currently in post-production.
Of the news, Flanagan said:
“In the tradition of Misery and Dolores Claiborne, Gerald’s Game is one of the most intense and compelling novels I’ve ever read, and this has been a dream project for many years. Trevor and I are very excited to help translate that experience for an audience.”
Gerald’s Game follows a couple who are staying at a secluded cabin in the woods of Maine when, while trying to jolt the romance between them to life with a bed and some handcuffs, things go very, very wrong.
The movie will be the next project for Flanagan.
