Vincent D’Onofrio is best known for his role as Private Leonard Lawrence in Full Metal Jacket, but has also had roles in films like Men In Black and smaller films like Ass Backwards, Charlie Countryman, and Escape Plan. He will also be seen in the upcoming Jurassic World. D’Onofrio also has some TV experience, with most of it playing Detective Robert Goren in the Law and Order spinoff Law And Order: Criminal Intent.
Now D’Onofrio will return to TV drama by joining Charlie Cox who will play the titular character in Daredevil. Hit the jump for more.
D’Onofrio will play Wilson Fisk, otherwise known as The Kingpin. Michael Clarke Duncan played the character’s most recent incarnation in the 2003 film Daredevil.
Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head Of Television on D’Onofrio joining the cast of Daredevil:
“We’re incredibly proud to have an actor with the gravitas and versatility of Vincent joining “˜Marvel’s Daredevil’ in such an integral role. Wilson Fisk is an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero.”
Here’s how Marvel described the character in the press release:
D’Onofrio will play Wilson Fisk, a powerful businessman whose interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen will bring him into conflict with the blind attorney Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil.
Seeing that Daredevil, Jessica Drake, and the Luke Cage and Iron Fist series are interconnected and a part of the MCU, it’s possible that The Kingpin could be seen in the other three Marvel series on Netflix. All of them would eventually team up for the new Netflix miniseries The Defenders.
