Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett will be at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con later this month where he’ll be signing his new limited edition zombie action figure.
The Famous Zombies Jr. limited edition green Hammett figure, which is being released by the guitarist’s own Kirk Von Hammett Toys with an edition of only 300, will be a SDCC exclusive and Hammett will be on site at the Con to sign. You can catch Hammett, whose 2012 book Too Much Horror Business shows off his vast array of horror collectibles, at the Nuclear Blast SDCC booth 503 on Friday, July 25th from 1pm to 2pm, and on Saturday July 26th from 2pm to 3pm. Beginning on Wednesday July 23, Con attendees will be able to purchase tickets for the Friday appearance and once those are sold out, Saturday tickets will be released. Tickets will be available at the Nuclear Blast Records/Stern Pinball/JSR merch booth (503).
Check out a photo here below of the exclusive figure, along with Hammett’s thoughts on the upcoming event.
“I’m stoked to be bringing more exclusive wares to the San Diego Comic Con,” says Kirk Von Hammett himself, “Nuclear Blast have been friends for quite some time, so I’m happy to be able to bring one of my exclusives to their booth. Being a fan of comics and movies since I was a kid, it’s just a huge honor to be at Comic Con on both sides, selling and buying!”
My guess is that those tickets for Hammett’s appearance are going to go real fast, so be on your toes everyone and get there on Wednesday as early as you can. What the press release doesn’t state is that you actually need a ticket to get into the Con on Wednesday to actually get to the Nuclear Blast booth and to get a ticket for Wednesday, you 1) already need to have one because SDCC tickets sell out a year in advance, and 2) in order to get a ticket for Wednesday, which is Preview night, you either need to have a press/profession badge or have purchased the Preview Night option, which was only available to people who bought the whole event badge (meaning, all full days – Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
Hammett and his Metallica bandmates made several appearances at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, including a panel for their film Metallica Through The Never and a secret concert (the Doom Crew was there!!!).
