Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are all set to reprise their Shaun of the Dead roles, but the good news doesn’t end there.
After starring together in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy (Shaun, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End) for director Edgar Wright, it was wondered if and when the trio would work together again. Pegg has now confirmed that that time is now approaching, though the project is still in the early stages.
Continue reading to see what Pegg had to say about the movie.
Speaking to BBC Radio’s 6 Music, Pegg confirmed the movie:
“Edgar and I were having a conversation the other day about it, and it has a title and everything. We’re kind of into a creative cycle now. We’ve all got different things [going] on and we know we have to get those things done. The coming-together thing is without question on the table and will happen when we can do it.”
But while Pegg, Frost, and Wright will indeed make another movie together, don’t expect it to be like the Cornetto trilogy:
“When we said the trilogy was over, it was because that group of films was over. They’re all kind of related with each other and deal with a specific idea. There’s a criteria to those films. The next thing we do won’t do that, it will just be something else. It will happen. We made three films in ten years and hopefully in the next decade we’ll make another three.
I really love working with those guys and I wouldn’t ever not want to work with them. It’s not even a question.”
As for what the title is, what the movie will be about, or when fans can expect to see it get made and released is not yet known. As Pegg said, all three guys are quite busy, so it could be a while.
Pegg always has a jam-packed schedule these days. The actor can next be seen in Hector and the Search for Happiness out September 19th and heard in the animated feature The Boxtrolls out September 26th. After that he has a few movies already in post-production, Man Up, Kill Me Three Times, and Absolutely Anything. Then of course there’s the upcoming blockbusters Mission: Impossible 5 and Star Trek 3.
Next Frost can also be heard in The Boxtrolls, and his upcoming titles include Syrenia and Unfinished Business, both of which are in post-production, and Sober Companion.
Now that Wright has moved past all that Ant-Man drama, he’s set his focus on a pair of projects in Baby Driver and Grasshopper Jungle.
