Back in May it was reported that Nicholas Winding Refn, the filmmaker behind movies like Valhalla Rising, Bronson, and Drive, was in talks to direct a horror movie titled The Bringing that would be based on the mysterious and disturbing death of a Canadian student named Elisa Lam.
Unfortunately Refn’s involvement in the project didn’t work out, and so a new director had to be found and hired by Sony Pictures. That director is Jeremy Lovering, whose previous credits include the psychological horror In Fear, the documentary Killing Hitler, and episodes of the TV series MI:5 and Sherlock (“The Empty Hearse”).
The movie is said to follow the man trying to figure out what happened to Lam, and the nightmare he stumbles into while investigating the mysterious death.
No casting or timetable for filming and release of The Bringing is known yet.
