James Gunn not only hit one out of the park this summer with the runaway hit Guardians of the Galaxy, but he had a surprising smash hit soundtrack to boot. The music in the film seemed to play a supporting role all to itself, and audiences scrambled to iTunes to download it. Soon, you too can own your own cassette version (just like Chris Pratt‘s Star Lord) of the “Awesome Mix Vol. 1.”
Marvel and Hollywood Records will release the soundtrack, which remains the 10th best-selling album of 2014, on a limited run of cassettes on November 17th. The cassette tape will be made available only to independent retailers partnered with “Record Store Day,” and an exact total of just how many of the limited run cassettes will be available is not known at the moment. It will be in stores until December. Talk about your #1 Christmas Boutique Gift Item right?
Meanwhile, you can still pick up the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack in other various forms like CD, MP3, and even vinyl. And on the off chance you aren’t familiar with the play list, here’s the artists and songs featured. It’s an iconic mix of ’70s and early ’80s gold.

2. Raspberries – “Go All the Way”
3. Norman Greenbaum – “Spirit in the Sky”
4. David Bowie – “Moonage Daydream”
