Satans Blade

Independent home video distributors Olive Films has signed a deal to release the obscure horror movies in the Slasher // Video catalog in remastered editions on DVD and Blu-ray in 2015. Among them are the infamous shot-on-video cult classics Death Nurse, Death Nurse 2, and the immortal Boardinghouse. Slasher // Video founder Jesus Teran confirmed the deal in a statement saying, “Working with Olive Films will take my mission of releasing obscure cinema with care and passion even further.” “We’re excited to work with Slasher // Video,” Olive Films’ Senior Vice President of Sales and Acquisitions Eric D. Wilkinson said. “We look forward to continuing the work Jesus Teran has done and bringing these films to a wider audience.” The first release under the Olive/Slasher deal will be the 1984 feature Satan’s Blade, which will be available for sale beginning February 24, 2015.

The Giver

The Weinstein Company and Anchor Bay Entertainment have set a November 25, 2014 date for the release of Philip Noyce’s young adult novel adaptation The Giver on Blu-ray and DVD. Starring Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes, Brenton Thwaites, Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd, and Taylor Swift, the futuristic fantasy will include the following extras:

Samurai Cop

Looks like one of the best bad action flicks of all time is getting an HD upgrade pretty soon. Cinema Epoch is unleashing Amir Shervan‘s mind-blowing cult classic Samurai Cop on Blu-ray on November 25, 2014. The film will be remastered from the newly discovered 35mm negatives and feature a ton of all-new supplements:

Audio Commentary with Matt Hannon

Matt Hannon Interview
Audio Commentary by 80s Picturehouse
Red Letter Media Interview with Matt Hannon

That’s right, kiddies. They’re making a sequel. Will the world ever be ready for a follow-up to the greatest unsung action epic of the 80’s that was actually held over for the early 90’s? This Blu-ray might help smooth things over. Here’s the bonkers trailer for those of you in need for further coercion:
