Warning! Some spoilers if you are not up to date!
Fresh off the success of the “Giggle Pig” takedown, Captain Holt (Andre Braugher), Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz), and Jake (Andy Samberg) are awarded medals of honor, from Holt’s nemesis Madeline (Kyra Sedgewick), much to Holt’s actual unhidden-for-once glee. The task force is officially over and it’s time for the next big case.
The Ukranian mafia are using a drophouse, and Holt needs two teams to stake out the place from an abandoned building. Jake and Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) volunteer to do the eight-hour stakeout in its entirety, against the advice of…well…..everyone. They insist their bromance is strong enough, complete with theme song. To the surprise of no one, they start to get on each other’s nerves in the tiny gross room and create a “no no” list. Some “no-no’s”:
-no rhyming
-no pull-ups
-no red wedding
-no lady-style towels
Two side storylines are Diaz crushing on Holt’s nephew (guest star Nick Cannon) in a very Diaz way, and Terry makes a children’s book based on the people at the station. Santiago and Gina (Chelsea Peretti) don’t like their fictional selves very much.
This episode has a lower number of hilarious moments than usual. That being said, it’s still funnier than any show on television now or pretty much ever. I think the lesser amount of Terry and Gina screen time contributes to this as they are the laugh leaders. Andy Samberg also leads the show in giggles, but he has less quips than usual. I look forward to Sunday night television for this show the most, and everyone knows that Sunday night TV is a DVR’s busiest night.
Theme song:
Pansuit of armor
