Marvel has announced that Edward James Olmos, who starred as Admiral William Adama in Ronald D. Moore and David Eick’s re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica, has joined the cast of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. in a recurring role.

Olmos will debut on the show this spring, playing the role of Robert Gonzales, who’s described as someone who will have “massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team.”

Of Olmos’s casting, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer and Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said:

In addition to his role on Galactica, Olmos is also known for roles in Stand and Deliver (which scored him an Academy Award nomination), the ’80s Miami Vice TV series (which won him an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award), The Burning Season (which he also won a Golden Globe for), Blade Runner, Dexter, and much more.
