HBO has released Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life, the 30-minute behind-the-scenes special looking at…you guessed it, one day in the life of filming season five that we found out about in December. The always highly anticipated new season is set to premiere in a couple of months on April 12th.
The special on the same day as production is happening in three different countries—Croatia, Northern Ireland, and Spain—and shows what a normal day looks like for cast, producers, costume designers, hairstylists, makeup artists, set designers, directors, production managers and designers, and the list goes on and on. It is truly remarkable to see the amount of coordination that goes into making a show like this.

If you’ve not yet seen it, you should also be sure to check out the first trailer for Game of Thrones season five, which can be seen right here. You can also see a collection of images from the new season as well.
Game of Thrones is based on George R.R. Martin‘s “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series, and created by David Benioff (whose wife Amanda Peet wasn’t too fond of his plan to turn the books into a TV series at first) and D.B. Weiss.
The show stars Peter Dinklage, Maisie Williams, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Natalie Dormer, and many more.
New faces to the cast for season five include Jonathan Pryce as High Sparrow, Alexander Diddig as Doran Martell, Toby Sebastian as Trystane Martell, Nell Tiger Free as Myrcella Baratheon, DeObia Oparei as Areo Hotah, Enzo Cilenti as Yezzan, Sand Jessica Henwick as Nymeria (Nym), Rosabell Laurenti Sellers as Tyene Sand, and Keisha Castle-Hughes as Obara Sand. You can see a video of the new cast introducing themselves from this past summer’s San Diego Comic-Con right here.
