Zack Snyder Teases ‘Justice League’ With Jason Momoa’s Aquaman (Photo)

Jason Momoa Aquaman Unite The Seven Justice League banner

Zack Snyder posted an image to his Twitter account on Thursday night of Jason Momoa as Aquaman in what looks like a tease for the Justice League films.

The image appears to be concept art showing a photo of Momoa in Aquaman armor holding a trident, with the words “Unite The Seven” written over the image. With the picture, Snyder wrote, “There is only one true King. #unitetheseven”. Check out the image and Twitter post here below.

The image is clearly photoshopped and is likely a tactic Snyder is using to create buzz for Aquaman’s introduction into the DC Comics Shared Universe Films — possibly as soon as in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice — and his planned Justice League films. (Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson had a similiar tactic when he posted Benedict Cumberbatch Doctor Strange fan art to Twitter back in December and sent the Internet into a frenzy of excitement.)

“Unite The Seven” likely refers to the seven original members of DC’s Justice League — Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, although it could be members of DC Comics’ rebooted universe, which would swap out Martian Manhunter for Cyborg, who’s getting his own film in 2020. While there’s no official word on which characters will appear in the two-part Justice League films, Snyder will be directing them, with Part One coming in 2017 and Part Two in 2019. Snyder kicked off the DC Comics Shared Universe Films with 2013’s Man of Steel and continues with its direct follow-up, Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which wrapped principal photography in December 2014 and is scheduled to hit theaters on March 25, 2016.

Momoa, best remembered in recent years for his stand-out role as Khal Drago on HBO’s Game Of Thrones, is signed on for a 4-picture deal to play Aquaman throughout the DC Comics Shared Universe Films, including, reportedly, a cameo in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, presumably the two Justice League film starting in 2017, and of course, the 2018 solo film Aquaman.

  1. I really find the “unite the seven” thing to be really stupid. It would be one thing if we already had a DC Cinematic Universe with pre-existing stand alone films for each of these characters and a common force/goal to bring them together. But with the “unite” stuff, it pretty much implies that they just want a Justice League film. Which makes me very concerned for the stand-alone WW and Aquaman films.

  2. My immediate thought was to read “unite the seven” as “unite the seven [seas].”
