Gotham is certainly busy in the fanboy/fangirl news during this brief hiatus! On the heels of the news that Jada Pinkett-Smith won’t be back as Fish Mooney for Season 2, comes the announcement that Chris Chalk has been cast as Lucius Fox.
Slated to appear in the second to last episode, with the door open for Season 2, Lucius Fox is a major staple in the DC world. As eventual CEO of Wayne Enterprises, he emerges as the one person Bruce Wayne can depend on in a company that is rife with corruption. Bruce (David Mazouz) recently confronted the company in Episode 1.16 “The Blind Fortune Teller,” and Alfred was almost killed as a result in Episode 1.17 “Red Hood”.
Chalk has some Morgan Freeman-sized shoes to fill with this role. (Freeman brought the character to life on the big screen in Christopher Nolan’s popular Dark Knight Trilogy). But at least he’ll have some friends on Gotham set. He and John Doman (Don Falcone) starred in Unconditional, a little play a few years back. And Morena Baccarin (Dr. Thompkins) and he are old castmates from Homeland.
To familiarize yourself with all things Chris Chalk, check out Clemens in 12 Years a Slave, Gary Cooper in Newsroom, and Tom Walker in Homeland.
Welcome, Chris Chalk. We hope you will stay awhile.
