Seriously, what DID we do for entertainment before the Internet? I mean, now big time A-list stars go on YouTube and spoof their own work for our enjoyment. Take the new Funny AND Die video based on FOX’s hit thriller, The Following.
Star of the television series Kevin Bacon sits with Oz and Battle Creek star Dean Winters at the Steiner Studio cafeteria talking about his show. “I play this FBI agent Ryan Hardy who’s hunting a cult of serial killers.” “Sounds hilarious.” Bacon describes how working on the show feeds his paranoia and of course the second he leaves for the bathroom, Dean answers his ringing phone and of course Joe Carroll himself in on the phone from prison. James Purefoy revels in the bit as he tells Dean how he is going to sic his following on him.
As Dean heads home for a navy-bath we anticipate more Following shenanigans, but are treated by a pop-in by Dexter’s own Michael C. Hall. Soon Bacon is back in full Ryan Hardy mode shooting celebrities like cult members before finally finding comfort in his long time companion, Kyra Sedgwick… or is she… “Joe Carroll says hello!”
Videos like this, make me love the Internet. But on a serious note… Why isn’t Dexter himself showing up on The Following!?!? Someone call FOX and Showtime… this has epic crossover event written all over it!
