Let’s recap last Monday’s episode, before The Returned 1.6 “Lucy” review.
During The Returned 1.5 “Tony and Adam”, we finally discover the identity of the stabber – Adam (Rhys Ward). Tony (Aaron Douglas) had been covering it up until he finally covered Adam up by burying him alive. But Adam’s back and the stabbing has resumed, however Tony’s different. He was eaten up with guilt at what he did and confesses to Adam. Needless to say that was not taken well.
Camille (India Ennenga) is now hanging out with Lena’s (Sophie Lowe) gang as a “cousin.” Lena runs out of the hospital to confront her in the bar, but ends up looking like a crazy in a hospital gown with a wicked looking open wound on her back. She passes out in the woods and Adam’s face looms over her.
Rowan (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) chooses Tommy (Kevin Alejandro). I don’t blame her. Simon (Mat Vairo) is hot but that shit is scary.
The craziest moment was when the audience realized at the exact same moment – Peter (Jeremy Sisto) was the same guy 29 years ago who tried to hide and comfort Henry/Victor (Dylan Kingwell), before his friend/partner killed him.
The Returned 1.6 “Lucy” review: Another wtf? episode of the good kind. The dead mix with the living and are interconnected in ways never expected. These are some stellar writers on this show. Truly. I hope this show is renewed for a second season. Since its mother show, Les Revenants, has a second season in production this year, I am hopeful.
As referred from the title, this episode starts with a Lucy (Leah Gibson) flashback, though not as back as the others. It shows how a year ago, Lucy came to this town and started swindling Jack (Mark Pellegrino), who in his grief, grasped at straws. Karma really visits this girl, as you will see.
Lena wakes up in Adam’s cabin, and what you think will happen doesn’t, and what you don’t think will happen, does. Claire (Tandi Wright) is starting to think Lena’s accusations aren’t so crazy after all.
One of the very best aspects of the show is highlighted during a scene between Peter and Victor during this episode. The writers and actors do a superb job of giving us just enough for us to work our brains to figure out what is happening, yet not being too vague. Peter tries to explain to Victor what happened that night. And this scene was too good.
The next four episodes are: Rowan, Claire, Helen, and Peter. So exciting!
The Returned airs Monday nights at 10pm on A&E.
