Paramount Pictures has released the second trailer for Gemini Man. The first trailer was released back in April.
Directed by Ang Lee, the film centers on Henry Brogan (Will Smith), an elite assassin who is suddenly targeted and pursued by a mysterious young operative that seemingly can predict his every move. This mysterious young operative is none other than a younger version of himself (also played by Smith). Now it is time for the older Brogan to get into the truth of the conspiracy that his behind this operation. Check out the trailer below.
This trailer comes just mere hours after the visual effects featurette detailing the technology used to create a digital version of a young Will Smith was released. Honestly, these VFX effects aren’t doing it for me. Then again, it goes to show how the technology is meant to be seen on a big screen. This is especially true when the film was shot in 3D at 120 frames per second and 4k resolution. Lee also shot his previous feature, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, using the same 120 frames per second and 4K resolution.
As great as that will look, it will be meaningless if there isn’t a great story to support it. While the teaser trailer didn’t offer much, this new trailer seems to indicate that there is a larger conspiracy at play. Of course, they wouldn’t just spoil it right off the bat. But I think it will be fun to see how the VFX technology is bringing us a younger version of Smith to the big screen. Remember, they aren’t simply just de-aging Smith, they are creating a digital human that looks like Smith.
