It’s the final four, starting with this week’s The Flash 1.20 “The Trap”! But first, a little recap of last week’s crossover episode.

Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) took a trip to Starling City, the scene of Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) car accident that was so fatal to his Tess (and to the real him) all those years ago. They enlist Captain Lance (Paul Blackthorne) to help. While there, Cisco gets the thrill of his life when Laurel (Katie Cassidy) reveals all she knows about the hidden identities and reveals to him that she is the Black Canary. “I love you,” Cisco says. We love you too Cisco! He is my favorite character on the show. Cisco helps her with a techie problem, and Lance helps them out too, by not reporting the dead body they found of the real Harrison Wells. Now they have the proof. Joe gives Lance some wise advice on forgiveness.

The metahuman of the episode was one that can transform to look like any person merely by touching them, but cannot assume their abilities nor their memories. It was really funny to see Grant Gustin play fake Flash and kiss Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker). It was not so funny to see fake Eddie (Rick Cosnett) shoot two cops, and the real Eddie get thrown in prison.

At the end, Cisco, Caitlin, and Barry find the evil lair that shows The Flash missing in the future!

The Flash 1.20 “The Trap” review: I didn’t think anything could beat last week’s episode but… Gideon the AI said Barry Allen was “founding member of…” before Barry interrupted her. Founding member of what? The Justice League?!? Squeal!!!

Eddie plans on proposing to Iris and wants Joe’s blessing. What do you think Joe says? He also asks Barry’s advice. What do you think HE says? Barry is too nice. The future newspaper did say “Iris West-Allen.”

We get a bonus flashback of coma Barry, and West meeting Wells. Nice setup.

Barry confesses that he’s already turned back time, not just as future Barry. From there they figure that Cisco’s dream about Dr. Wells killing him could be real. They concoct a device that can keep someone lucid in dreams, hearing the real world as well. Cisco is nervous, thinking he will die, “I mean, what are we talking about here? Is this Inception or Dreamscape?” Clever line. He can hear them inside his dream, but it feels all too real. He almost has a stroke.

Barry saves a bunch of people from a fire, with guidance from Wells, including the Captain’s fiance. He is so torn because of the help.

Eddie: “So Wells set up a fake showdown with a fake opponent, who was never really there. This all just keeps getting crazier and crazier.” Yes, Eddie. And thank you for the expositional summary.

They set a “trap” for Wells. They need the confession to get his dad out of prison. Does it work? Dr. Wells is one smart cookie.

Eddie comes face to face with his relative. They haven’t said what the relation is yet, but I cannot wait to find out. Obviously, Eddie cannot die, or Eobard could cease to exist.

If they do resolve this Wells storyline this season, what could they possibly do to top this? Tom Cavanagh is so great, I hope they go back in time and save the real Dr. Wells. He needs to stay on the show. And then how does that affect the space-time continuum? Great Scott!

Next week – Grodd!

Season 1 is getting a million stars and a billion thumbs up from me.

The Flash airs Tuesday nights at 8pm ET on The CW.
