Last week on Olympus, Hero (Tom York) met Future Hero, who didn’t really give him any good news or news at all. Turns out he has to kill Love. We all know that’s the Oracle (Sonya Cassidy), except for maybe Hero, but he’s a guy, and very innocent in the ways of women, so what does he know? He and Medea (Sonita Henry) join forces. Yuck! Lykos’s (Wayne Burns) lover and scribe, Kimon (Levi Meaden), is also his bastard brother. Aegeus (Graham Shiels) grows them on trees, doesn’t he? Lady Magus dies at the tricky hands of Hero, and in her sister Medea’s arms. What?
Olympus 1.8 “Danger And Desire” review: The bull is ready! And no evisceration! Aegeus is weeping like a little girl without his “darling witch.” King Minos (Alan C. Peterson) prevails, and King Aegeus, Lykos, and Pallas (John Emmet Tracy) are captured. There is an unexpected (by me) death, that saddens more people than I expected.
Hero finally admits his affection. And everyone admits their affection for him – Ariadne (Sophia Lauchlin Hirt), Oracle. He is happily reunited with Daedalus (Matt Frewer). Medea doesn’t outright admit anything except needing the Lexicon, but you can see in her eyes and mannerisms (and words) of both of them, that they are forming a connection, other than one of necessity. That scene when he assures her he will come back for her is endearing. He freezes time again and escapes after Kronos takes another few swipes at him.
Hell hath no fury… at least, this scorned princess sics scorpions on her rivals. The episode ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.
This episode was the best one of the season. The storyline is moving a bit faster now. The relationships are deeper. Hell, I even feel a little bad for Ariadne, bitch that she is.
Will the next 6 episodes bring us to the realm of the gods – to Olympus?
Olympus airs Thursday nights at 11pm ET on Syfy.
