Fans waited in line outside overnight last night to get into Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con and undoubtedly it was to be there for this evening’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel. While director J.J. Abrams and company had said that they would not be bringing new clips from the highly anticipated Star Wars sequel, they did give the fans something new — a nearly 4-minute behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, along with interview footage with the cast and crew.
Check out the film’s Comic-Con 2015 Reel here below!
The video shows the first official look at Carrie Fisher returning as Princess Leia, as well as new footage with Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, and more, and includes interviews with Mark Hamill (returning as Luke Skywalker) and others.
The behind-the-scenes look also features mega-fan (and Star Trek actor) Simon Pegg, who, like many others on set, felt like they were living the dream (YOU ARE!!!!!!!!). The reel also showed us Lupita Nyong’o with mo-cap equipment, as well as the characters played by Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, and Domhnall Gleeson. And let’s not forget the familiar droids and ships of the Star Wars universe — they’re there, too!!!!
The panel, moderated by Chris Hardwick, featured J.J. Abrams, producer and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and writer Lawrence Kasdan, with cast members Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford! Afterwards, the over 6,000 audience members were all invited to a surprise Star Wars Fan Concert of the San Diego Symphony performing classic Star Wars music from John Williams at the Embarcadero Marina Park South in San Diego.
