Not going to lie, Deadpool is probably on everyone’s list of most anticipated films to watch in 2016. The unconventional anti-hero is crude, rude, and has a tendency to break the fourth wall, something that is refreshing. Ryan Reynolds will “reprise” his role as the title character, though it most definitely won’t be the same one that we saw in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The cast and crew already stopped by to present some footage from the film over at San Diego Comic-Con, and much to everyone’s delight, they got to see the footage twice. Having already promised that there would be a trailer in the coming weeks, we’ve learned that Fox would be releasing two of them: a NSFW red-band trailer, and a tamer for-all-audiences green band trailer.
Now Fox has released a teaser trailer for the trailer, which is essentially the same video that was seen at Comic-Con earlier this year. Check it out after the jump.
It may just be a trailer to announce that a trailer was coming, but it doesn’t hold anything back, and is undeniable proof that Deadpool will most definitely be the R-rated film. It even goes a little meta by mocking Fox’s inexplicable decision to sew Deadpool’s mouth shut last time we saw him on film. The 20th Century Fox YouTube channel also gets in on the fun and covers anyone who might want to complain about the trend of trailers for trailers, adding “#Deadpool did a trailer to a trailer. What a post-modern asshole.” in the comments section of the video.
Here’s the odd formatted description that Fox provided for the trailer:
When you’re stuck in a day
that’s gray,
and lonely…
Just stick out your chin,
and grin,
and say…
everything looks sexier in red.
There is much more to it than Reynolds (in full Deadpool costume) telling us that the trailer arrives tomorrow. In fact it almost plays like the one shown at SDCC beat for beat. Regardless, it is still funny, and may be even funnier to those who didn’t get a chance to see it. As some suspect, the red band trailer will pretty much be the same trailer that was shown at SDCC, with the green band trailer cutting down on the vulgar language and obscene violence – but who would want to watch that trailer anyway?
Fox will release Deadpool into theaters on February 12, 2016. Directed by Tim Miller using a script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the film also stars Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, and Brianna Hildebrand.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
