Jessica Jones Announcement on Netflix

Netflix and Marvel have released the first batch of images for their upcoming series, Jessica Jones. Check out all the photos here below.

The show is the second of four planned series that began with Daredevil (Luke Cage is currently in pre-production, while Iron Fist has yet to be cast and find a showrunner), culminating in an ensemble series called The Defenders. These images feature Krysten Ritter as the title hero, but also reveal her fellow castmembers Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker and Carrie-Anne Moss as Harper, as well as David Tennant as Kilgrave aka The Purple Man, one of the show’s villains. There is even a look at Mike Colter as Luke Cage.

What works for these Netflix shows is that while they are a part of the MCU, they, well at least Daredevil so far, haven’t been constantly reminding us about the post-Avengers, though there are very subtle hints. The reason why I liked Daredevil so much is that it wasn’t concerned with what Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, or Hulk was doing; Daredevil has his own problems to deal with.

Now these first images aren’t exactly spoilerish, as we already knew the cast and the characters they play. We knew that Luke Cage would appear in the middle of the season. The series will even see the return of Rosaio Dawson, who will reprise her Daredevil role as Claire Temple.

Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight) is the showrunner for Jessica Jones and will produce, along with Liz Friedman (Elementary, House M.D.) and Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb.

Netflix will release all 13 episodes of Jessica Jones on November 20, 2015 at 12:01am PT. In case you missed it, Marvel also released an announcement trailer this month, that gives us a tease of the tone of the show.

Here’s the official premise,

Working as a private investigator in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen, an ex-superhero’s past comes back to haunt her in Marvel’s Jessica Jones.
