Last week’s Dominion was completely bananas, and the best Dominion I have ever seen. Darkness-infused Gabriel (Carl Beukes) set the Amphora upon Vega, and everyone started hallucinating, except Alex (Christopher Egan). Just another benefit of chosen one tattoos. Everyone pretty much went batshit crazy. Claire saw her baby and a world where she and Alex and Willow (the baby) were a happy family. David (Anthony Head) had a noose around his neck when he was saved at the last minute… by an 8-Ball version of himself. 8-Ball David taunts and torments real David. Arika has a role reversal, and finds herself chained and called 8-Ball by Claire (Roxanne McKee) and Rose (remember Rose?). The picture of her mother almost haunts her, and she almost kills herself. William Whele (Luke Allen-Gale) has visions of Gabriel, Claire, and lastly Alex telling him he is not the chosen one. Late to the party (the Amphora affects angels more slowly) are Noma (Kim Engelbrecht), who thinks her wings are back, to the point where she finds the Amphora and wants to fly away with it, and Michael (Tom Wisdom), who has visions of Noma killing Alex. That made him want to kill her. When Alex finally closed the Amphora, everyone was shaken and regretful.
Dominion 2.12 “Day Of Wrath” review: Last night’s episode started exactly where last week’s began, with everyone (except Alex) nursing an Amphora hangover. But Vega is not out of the woods yet. There’s an army of 8-Balls running full speed towards Vega.
David redeemed himself a bit by helping Claire in the control room, even after she put a gun to his head. I love Anthony Head’s ability to be both believably good and bad within the same moment. He really enjoys killing off the 8-Balls with Jerry the soldier. Until…
Most of the affected have severe regrets. Most… except William Whele. He’s walking around killing everyone after comforting them. He shoots Jerry in the head and tells his father of his plan to annihilate everyone. So David cries and kills him. I felt David’s anguish. I just wish he would have killed him before William opened the gate to let all the 8-Balls into Vega.
Arika is changed… softer… sadder. She’s actually sorry. She just wants to go home, but gives a little girl a ride to Helena.
Gabriel and Michael have a huge battle. It must be Thursday. The surprise is the flashback scene where we see the exact moment Gabriel begins the war, and the angels rain down to Earth. Part of the surprise is that Noma was on Gabriel’s side at the time. What was that about? While Michael was getting his ass kicked, he did tell Gabriel all about Mallory, Alabama, and that he thinks their brother Lucifer is back.
Claire and Alex made me mad, giggling in front of Noma. It made her feel bad. #TeamNoma
Solid episode. I think any episode after last week’s would feel lesser somehow, because “Bewilderment of Heart” was just so good. It’s setting us up for a fantastic finale – Lucifer, the redemption of Arika and David, the 8-Ball Vs Vega showdown.
The season finale of Dominion airs next Thursday at 10pm ET on Syfy.
